It all started when an ex boyfriend told me that I was gaining weight back in May 2009. I stopped eating beef then because I wanted to cut down on my calorie intake ( note that February of the same year I've already gotten rid of pork because I don't get to eat them from where I'm at so it was just the right thing to do). I did some more research and what was once a weight loss regimen turned my curiosity to vegetarianism and veganism, animal rights and ethical issues. By the end of last year, I have given up chicken which I thought was going to be hard since I loved it so much. It turned out to be a cakewalk. I did (and still do) a lot of online navigation and some book readings (i.e. The Skinny Bitch Diet) till I found myself one day almost hurling at the stench of corned beef being served at the hospital's cafeteria. That was it for me! The day I've decided I wanted to be a vegan someday.
I find that the hardest thing for me to give up is seafood. It's just so damn HARD. I call myself as an end-stage pescetarian because I still couldn't get fish out of my system but I'm getting there. I want to get there.
I don't have seafood everyday now. Slowly, I'm doing it.
I take veganism like religion, faith, beliefs, and principles. I do share what advantages I gain from it when I'm asked but I never force it on people.
